Co-Design Guide & Training Toolkit encourages businesses to engage with people with disabilities

There are many reasons to consult with end users and customers in order to identify the potential barriers they face when accessing services and buildings. It is important to place this feedback firmly into all decision making processes so that they can be considered and form part of an organisations overall policy and strategic development.

 

In Australia there exists an interesting project entitled ‘Connect with Me’. This project has a co-design objective, to engage with people with disabilities regarding policies, services and facilities which are intended to be used by people with disabilities. The project is provided by People with Disabilities Western Australia (PWDWA) in partnership with the state’s Government. It is hoped that this project will encourage the co-design to become a valuable component of business rather than just a compliance consideration. This objective also hopes to see results such as;

 

Two ‘Connect with Me’ resources are available (see the link below for further details). These are the Co-Design Guide & the Training Toolkit. The Co-Design Guide will provide organisations with directions on how to successfully engage, connect and co-design with people with disabilities. While the Training Toolkit will provide organisations with directions on how to successfully engage, connect and co-design with people with disabilities.
