The European Parliaments adoption of a directive on the accessibility of public sector websites and website accessibility best practice guidelines.
Web accessibility aims to enable all users to gain access to the information available on the web. Access to the web is an important resource in many aspects of daily life for people with disabilities including; education, work, health, recreation and more. It ensures that the widest range of people, including those with disabilities, can interact with, navigate and understand the information presented. Making your website, and the information contained therein, easier to access can increase your sites potential customer/client base.
On the 26th of October 2016, the European Parliament adopted a directive making the websites and apps of public sector organisation’s more accessible. As a result, access for people with disabilities, particularly those with hearing or vision impairments, to public service websites and apps will be improved.
