Habinteg release 3rd Edition of Wheelchair Housing Design Guide
Following on from the 1997 and 2006 editions, the third edition of Habinteg’s Wheelchair Housing Design Guide has been published and is now available. It has been written by experts from the Centre for Accessible Environments and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section on housing and this edition provides advice including several recommendations on how to design good quality wheelchair accessible housing.
Importantly, the guide also provides explanations and very informative reasoning behind the technical standards and suggests ways to go beyond the basic minimum standards.
Although the guide has been specifically designed to complement the UK’s 2015 Building Regulations AD M4 (3) Category 3, the content provides easy to follow guidance on best practice and technical provisions and will be particularly useful to housebuilders, architects, occupational therapists and access consultants.
