The National Standards Authority of Ireland Develop World’s First Standard on Universal Design
The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) in conjunction with the NDA’s (National Disability Authority) Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD), CER (Commission for Energy Regulation), representative end users and key energy suppliers has developed the world’s first standard to enable energy products and services to be accessible and usable to more customers who span the full range of size, age, physical, mental and sensory abilities.
- SWIFT 9 (Specification Written in Fast Track)entitled Universal Design for Energy Suppliers was launched and published on the 9th February 2012.
- SWIFT 9 provides guidance and requirements to Energy Suppliers on how to apply Universal Design in the Development of accessible and usable products and services for household customers. The main contents of the SWIFT also include requirements and guidelines for Energy Suppliers on how to communicate to their customers.
