The Universal Design and Higher Education in Transformation 2018 Congress
The Universal Design and Higher Education in Transformation (UDHEIT) 2018 Congress will take place in Dublin Castle, Dublin Ireland this year between the 30th of October and the 2nd of November. This four day event will see experts from industry, education, government and non-government sectors brought together in order to share their knowledge and experiences with all participants. The aim of the congress is to transform the world by celebrating and integrating everything from good design, diversity and education.
Some of the topics that will be covered during this year’s congress are;
- Built environment – internal and external.
- Urban design and planning.
- Education – putting Universal Design for Learning at the heart of education – embedding Universal Design content across the curriculum.
- Engagement with Industry – Universal Design practices in real-world industry.
- Healthcare and design of healthcare facilities – facilitating independent and dignified access to healthcare for all.
- Employment – Universal Design to eliminate barriers and promote employment.
- Transport – Opening up transport planning and services by embedding Universal Design.
- Housing and homes – planning, designing and building homes that work for all ages, sizes and abilities.
UDHEIT 2018 is a partnership between Universal Design (A series of biennial international conferences) and the higher Education in Transformation symposia. By sharing ideas, knowledge and experiences the congress hopes to build global connections and regional networks in order to empower and inspire the future development in universal design and higher education. The Congress should appeal to those with an interest in universal design, in higher education and in the relationship between both universal design and higher education. The congress 2018 is in partnership with the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design, Dublin Institute of Technology, the Institute of Technology Tallaght, the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown, the University of Ontario and Durham College.
