Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion 2019
Each year American companies compete to win an award for the ‘Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion’ which is presented by The Disability Equality Index (DEI). The Disability Equality Index, which is a joint initiative between Disability:IN and American Association of People with Disabilities, is the most comprehensive benchmarking tool for disability inclusion. Designing workplaces that are truly inclusive and tapping into the skills and gifts of every individual, including people with disabilities, is a business imperative.
In order to achieve these goals, senior leaders across business sectors continue to advocate for organisational structures, policies and best practices that are recommended by experts and advocates in the field. This is how the DEI was created and why so many of Americas top corporations trust it.
The DEI continues to see an increase in participation each year. With the number of top scoring companies more than tripling to 156 in 2019 as compared to 43 in 2015. This signals a steady growth in disability inclusion across all industries.
The 2019 DEI measured criteria including:
- Culture & Leadership
- Enterprise-Wide Access
- Employment Practices
- Community Engagement
- Supplier Diversity
