The Centre for Excellence in Universal Design announces the 2017 Universal Design Grand Challenge.
The Centre for Excellence in Universal Design have recently announced the 2017 Universal Design Grand Challenge (UDGC) to promote and award Universal Design solutions that work for everyone.
The UDGC is a student competition, aimed at third level students who are in their final two years of study, inviting them to submit their best projects to compete for the National Universal Design Student Awards.
Entries are currently being accepted and the closing date for entries is the 28th of March 2017. There are three judge award categories in the competition:
- Information and Communication Technology
- Built Environment
- Products and Services
Entries will be judged by team of international experts in Universal Design and three projects in each category will be shortlisted to go forward to the final Awards Event where judges will choose and award the winning project in each category. In addition, judges will choose one project to win the Universal Design Commercialisation Award – qualifying the winning project for a Commercial Case Feasibility Grant by Enterprise Ireland. In addition, attendees at the final Awards Event will vote for a ‘People’s Choice’ award where the winner will receive a trophy and cash prizes for both student and third level college.
The final awards event is to be held on the 25th of May in the Gibson Hotel.
