Cork Airport installs new signage to raise awareness of people with hidden disabilities and the importance of accessible WCs
As part of Cork Airports commitment to improve travelers experience whilst using the airport, they have installed new signage following calls from the Irish Society for Colitis and Crohn's Disease, the national charity for people with inflammatory bowel disease, to introduce the new signage in Ireland's airports, rail stations and service stations.
The signs are designed to highlight to airport users that not all disabilities are visible and accessible WCs are vitally important for a range of users.
Cork Airport is also fully committed to providing accessibility for persons with reduced mobility and the services provided by the airport intend to:
- Enable passengers to communicate their arrival at the airport and request for assistance at the designated points inside and outside terminal buildings
- Enable passengers to move from the designated point to the check-in counter
- Check-in and register baggage
- Proceed from check-in counter to the aircraft, with completion of emigration, customs and security procedures
- Board the aircraft, with the provision of lifts, wheelchairs or other assistance needed as appropriate
- Proceed from the aircraft to the baggage hall and retrieve baggage with completion of immigration and customs procedures
- Proceed from the baggage hall to the designated point of departure
- Reach connecting flights when in transit with assistance airside and landside.
