An inclusive digital economy for people with disabilities.
There have been many changes to the digital economy which have been accelerated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes have impacted the world of work, creating opportunities as well as challenges for people with disabilities.
A report on “An inclusive digital economy for people with disabilities” has recently been published by Disability Hub Europe which was developed by the ILO Global Business and Disability Network (ILO GBDN) and Fundación ONCE. The report was presented at the Zero project Conference on the 10th of February 2021.
The report focuses on increasing awareness on the effects of the digital economy for people with disabilities and identifying any changes needed to make the digital world of work more accessible for people with disabilities.
The paper identifies the impacts of the digital revolution on the world of work and analyses the opportunities and challenges they bring to people with disabilities. The paper also highlights three main levers for an inclusive digital labour market:
- Ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities
- Promoting digital skills amongst people with disabilities
- Promoting the digital employment for people with disabilities
