The National Disability Authority (NDA) launch new e-learning module for the public sector
The NDA has recently been involved in an e-Learning Project and has launched an e-Learning module (October 2011) which is intended to provide basic Disability Equality training to staff at all levels within the public sector in Ireland.
The main aim of module which is Internet or CD based is to give staff an outline of disability and access issues in Ireland. It covers statistics; relevant legislation; provides learners with a greater understanding of the barriers faced by customers with disabilities and provides information to staff on how to engage with a person with a disability in a customer services setting.
The e-Learning module is available to Human Resource or Training sections of Irish public bodies and there is no charge to the individual or the organisation for taking the training module.
The module has been developed to the latest accessibility standards to ensure that all users including users with disabilities can take part in the training. The training module complies with the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA guidelines, and with many WAI WCAG 2.0 AAA guidelines.
