Dublin City Council
From 2010 to 2011, O'Herlihy Access Consultancy (OHAC) was engaged by Dublin City Council (DCC) to develop and provide a tailored disability proofing programme to ensure accessibility was mainstreamed across all departments of DCC, including Human Resources, Facilities Management, Corporate Services, Planning and Housing.
The project, in collaboration with Equality Strategies, involved assessing disability access relating to customer services, human resources, the build environment and information provision.
OHAC and Equality Strategies supported an accessibility implementation team from across the organisation. We designed and supported the implementation of three pilot projects, which are:
- A review of a public realm policy being developed within the Council;
- The promotion and capacity building around the Access Unit/Department; and
- The inclusion of access within the DCC Information Systems Department who delivers information and communications services to Dublin City Council.
