Health Services Executive, Dublin Mid-Leinster Estates Division
O’Herlihy Access Consultancy (OHAC) was engaged as access consultant on a number of projects within HSE Estates Dublin Mid-Leinster between March 2008 and April 2012 to ensure the proposed developments were fully accessible. Projects included:
- Irishtown Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC);
- Pearse Street PHCC;
- St Lomans Addiction Treatment Centre;
- Inchicore Primary Care Centre (Protected Structure);
- St Lomans Mental Health Hostel;
- Ballyfermot Mental Health Hostel;
- Cherry Orchard Child and Adolescent Facility;
- Ballyfermot PHCC;
- Ballyfermot Creche;
- Bellvilla Community Unit;
- HSE Westpoint Training Centre; and
- Lionsvilla Hostel (Protected Structure).
OHAC advised both the client and architect at design stage to ensure all aspects of universal design were considered. We also carried out a design appraisal of the proposed plans and reported on the external environment and approach, circulation, facilities, interior design, and safe egress for all in relation to access.
Irishtown Primary Health Care Centre won the Best Accessible Project at the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards in Dublin in 2008. The HSE underlined the excellent cooperation between the design team members led by the architect, A&D Wejchert and Partners.
