Accessible Information for All - Half Day Course
About the Programme
Information helps us all to make decisions and choices about our lives and enables us to live independently, to access social rights and entitlements and take part fully in society. Providing information to people with disabilities is a key responsibility for any organisation.
During this session participants will gain an understanding of relevant legislation, national and international best practice, and the reasons for accessible information. Participants will also gain an insight into how to design and mange information with access in mind.
Aim
This course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to plan and produce accessible information for all. This course would be particularly relevant to people working in communications, access officers, marketing professionals and human resources personnel.

Key Outcomes
Learners who successfully complete this course will:
- Identify barriers people face and how to remove these barriers to ensure information is accessible for all ;
- Gain knowledge of the relevant legislation in relation to Information provision and communications, including the Disability Act 2005, the Code of Practice on Accessibility of Public Services and Information provided by Public Bodies, LGMSB guidelines and more;
- Understand the legal, social and business benefits of providing accessible information for all customers and staff;
- Learn how to assist in the design, development and monitoring of information and communication policies within their organisations;
- Understand the organisational approach required to successfully implement information access within their sector.
