Disability Awareness Training - Half Day Course
About the Programme
Accessibility is much more than physical access to buildings. It is also about providing inclusive access to services, accessible workplaces and access to information (i.e. design of a website that is accessible for someone with a vision impairment). This course aims to equip learners new to the area of disability and accessibility with an overview of the provisions of the Disability and the Equality legislation. It also raises an awareness of disability issues in the workplace and addresses the concerns and misconceptions that employers and employees may have about working with people with disabilities.
Aim
The aim of this course is to allow participants explore their attitude to disability and the role of society in creating an inclusive society. This course is suitable for staff at all levels and is of particular benefit to people working in service provision or new to an organisation.

Learners who successfully complete this course will:
- Acquire a working knowledge of disability and equality legislation and how it relates to their organization.
