Making Complaints Accessible - The role of the Inquiry Officer - Half Day Course
About the Programme
Sections 38, 39 and 40 of the Disability Act 2005 specify the procedures for complaints and inquiries arising out of failures to implement the provisions of the Act.
This course has been designed to address the role of the Inquiry Officer within Public bodies and to ensure organisations have an accessible complaints procedure in place to meet the requirements of the Disability Act.
Aim
The aim of this course is to allow participants gain sufficient knowledge on accessibility to successfully carry out the role of Inquiry Officer within their organization and to ensure all aspects of the complaints procedure are accessible to all.

Key Outcomes
Learners who successfully complete this course will:
- Acquire a working knowledge of disability and equality legislation and how it relates to their organisation;
- Explore their own attitude towards disability and accessibility;
- Identify the barriers faced by people when accessing services (i.e. customer services, information and buildings) and how to remove these barriers;
- Appreciate the importance of promoting anti-discriminatory practice and accessible service delivery;
- Strengthen their knowledge on the role of the Inquiry Officer and how to apply sections 38-40 of the Disability Act 2005.
