Accessible Services for All - Half Day Course
About the Programme
This course aims to equip participants with an overview of how to make the services of their organisation accessible to all (i.e. customer services, information provision, human resources and the built environment). The course is aimed at personnel working in the private, public, community and voluntary sectors and will be of interest to all those that want to improve the overall accessibility of their services and their organisation. The training will enable participants to review and assess accessibility within their organisation and take steps to make their services accessible.
Aim
This course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to plan and produce accessible services for all. This course is highly relevant to all people with an interest in making their services accessible to everyone including access officers, management, customer services personnel, Inquiry Officers, marketing professionals, front line staff, and human resources staff.

Key Outcomes
Learners who successfully complete this course will:
- Identify barriers people face and how to remove these barriers in order to deliver an accessible service.
- Gain knowledge of the relevant legislation in relation to accessible service delivery including the Disability Act 2005, the Code of Practice on Accessibility of Public Services and Information provided by Public Bodies, LGMSB guidelines and more;
- Understand the legal, social and business benefits of providing accessible services for all customers and staff;
- Identify national and international best practice guidance and resources.
- Learn how to assist in the design, development and monitoring of accessibility policies within their organisations; and
- Understand the organisational approach required to successfully implement accessibility within their sector.
